Have some new masks that I am just in process of finishing and will post later today or tomorrow!  Here is my bio:
Sandra Greene, Haida name - TulGatAt and UljuuSkaan.  Sandra was born & raised in Prince Rupert and is of Haida Ancestry.  Her mother's side (Alice Nast) comes originally from Tsiits Gittanee (Massett) and her father's side (Clarence 'Swede' Jones) is originally from Skedans (Skidegate).
Sandra attended the Ksan carving course in Hazelton, BC in 1972 and learned the basics of Northwest Coast Indian Artwork and carved wood (rattle, mask, plaques) and made her own carving tools.  In 1973, she learned how to carve slate (argillite) from her cousin from Skidegate and made pendants and earrings and a pipe.
She has kept up her Haida artwork through designs and painting ever since that time, painting canvases of various sizes with traditional designs of our clans and crests.  She likes to add contemporary elements, shell buttons and beads and sometimes collage to her art.
At a young age Sandra started beading jewelry and continued this artform with antique beads and ones she's collected from her travels.  She has set up and sold them at arts & crafts fairs for a number of years and also to private buyers.  She does custom orders for specific necklaces to be made.
In 2011 Sandra started learning cedar bark weaving from her nephew and has enjoyed making many bracelets and baskets and gone out harvesting for cedar bark.
Creativity in our First Nations ways has always been an inspiration for Sandra and she collects artwork when the opportunity arises.
